Jim Brown Ale label
In the second installment of beer labels designed for friends, I would like to showcase Jim Brown Ale, an Imperial Brown Ale brewed by Brian Hoesing and Chris Vejnovich.

The beer’s name honors the former Syracuse University and Cleveland Brown standout running back. Brown is not only in the College Football and NFL Hall of Fame, but also the Lacrosse Hall of Fame. In 2002, Jim Brown was named by The Sporting News as the greatest professional football player ever. Continuing the winning tradition of the name, Jim Brown Ale won People’s Choice at last year’s Beer Quest held at Empyrean Brewing. You can see the rest of Brian and Chris’ accolades by viewing the Aloha Porter post.

Brewed with Chocolate malt and Amarillo, Jim Brown Ale is medium strength beer of moderate bitterness. For it’s victory at Beer Quest, the beer was brewed by Empyrean Brewing and was available at Lazlo’s last year as a seasonal ale.
Two thoughts:
A) Someone needs to pony up some cash to help Mr. Hoesing and Mr. Vejnovich start their own brewery.
B) I think it is safe to say that Nebraska, with examples like Archrival for Lucky Bucket, Turnpost for the Upstream and NBC, June for Upstream and Oxide’s misc labels, is putting out some great beers design work. More microbrewery and craft brews should tap this potential.
Oops forgot the fun work Bailey Lauerman did for the Lincoln Zoo wine bottles and the Bootleggers packaging, and I think David Day designed the “logos” for the Jobbers Canyon beers. Not very good beers but good logos. There are probably more examples out there but I just can’t think of them. Apologizes.
Sweet labels man! Mr. Hoesing better be winning best in show just by the way they look and taste second. Good job man.
