Josh likes making stuff.

He is interested in the design process and how that process informs the end result. Josh believes in putting in the hard work up front to realize a quality end product. He grew up drawing and sketching constantly and now sees that as a vital part of his own process.

Josh is passionate about design, family, and Arsenal F.C.

Henry’s 4th Birthday Party invitation

Earlier this month my son, Henry, turned four. Every year (so far) my wife and I have come up with a theme for his birthday party. To date we have done monsters, tractors and dinosaurs (T-Rex specifically, per Henry’s request). This year, in collaboration with Henry, we decided on “outer space”. Process sketches Being a designer, I have always taken the opportunity to design each year’s invitation – which then serves as the visual guideline for how we go about…

One Omaha identity

Earlier this year we had the opportunity to work with the newly formed organization One Omaha to develop their identity. One Omaha is a non-profit, citizen-driven initiative created to provide support for Omaha’s neighborhoods. Formed after the closing of the Neighborhood Center’s Omaha office in 2013, One Omaha (the Office of Neighborhood Engagement) will take over as the main resource for neighborhood development and advocacy in Omaha. Their mission is to facilitate the development of Omaha neighborhoods through advocacy, development,…

Josh’s Great™ movies

A while back Julia shared with us her Great™ movie list, and I felt that it was time for me to do the same. A brief history

So I’ve been at Oxide a few months now and I realized that I’ve yet to write a blog post properly introducing myself. Don’t worry, this will be short. Overview As with most other designers, I grew up making things (drawings, paintings, Lego fortresses). I loved creating and, naturally, took lots of art classes in school. I eventually ended up an art major in college and graduated with a BFA. After that, I wasn’t really sure what I was going…

Designer Josh Schwieger joins Oxide

I am thrilled to announce that Josh Schwieger has joined the Oxide team as a full-time designer. Josh’s personality, solid work ethic, and design skills are a perfect fit for Oxide. You may recall that Josh previously interned at Oxide in 2009, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have him back on the team. He’s a Midtown Omaha native, and a 2000 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, with a BFA in painting and drawing. (Josh went on to get…
