50,000 words in 30 days

There’s this thing called NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) that some crazy writers participate in every November. The goal is to write a novel in one month — 50,000 words in 30 days. This year, I participated. That comes down to 1,667 words a day, but you can pace yourself however you like. The idea is quantity over quality. I’ve learned a lot about meeting with clients. My first client meeting was with Nebraska Loves Public Schools. Their website redesign would help them become more of the resource they intended to be. It was a big and exciting project, with lots of uncertainty, lots of…

Why I’m joining Oxide

I first met the Oxide crew in 2008 when they were selected to do the rebranding for Word Made Flesh, where I worked. Since then, I’ve kept up with them here and there, mostly through playing ultimate frisbee with Drew Davies. I have admired, from a slight distance, the work going on at Oxide. Honestly, they were a joy to work with when I was a client. We loved the end product as much as the process. And I’m excited…
