The Simple Man logo
Earlier this year, my good friend came to me with an idea. He was looking to open a store for men and needed help with branding. He wanted to open an expertly curated shop that concentrated on high-quality, classic items for the modern gentleman. He had a name he liked — The Simple Man — and was ready to move on to a full identity buildout, so I was more than happy to donate my time and expertise to help him out.
The Simple Man is a modern take on a very old idea: the men’s store. The shop is unique for the area, focusing mainly on the secondary pieces a man needs on a daily basis. It offers a little bit of everything from personal care products to accessories and lifestyle goods (think wallets, notebooks, beard oils, clothing, and such). All hand-picked by my friend, Boyd Redinbaugh.
He wanted an identity that would make his shop stand out in Omaha’s retail space. Something unique. Something that would help define the type of store he wanted to be. We talked a few times about this idea of a store that caters to every man. The chosen direction is a simple caricature of the “everyman” paired with custom type. It’s a subtle nod back to an earlier time.
In addition to the logo, I designed the store signage, business cards, and even a custom stamp for his shopping bags, so he can add a personal touch to everything that leaves the store.
This was a fun project for a good friend. The Simple Man is located in Benson at 5115 Northwest Radial Highway. Swing down and check it out!
