Try New Things t-shirts
This is the first of several projects from my college days that I would like to showcase. Even though this isn’t current work, it was only a few years ago and I think it is still relevant. I would also like to take this opportunity to recommend the University of Nebraska at Kearney to anyone who is looking at design programs. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the dedicated professors that teach there.

This project was a collaboration between myself and Brandon Oltman, who was a classmate of mine at the time. We were approached by one of our professors, with the objective of helping the rest of our class become more experimental in our design work. We had both recently been working with screen printing and decided to set up a workshop that would allow our classmates the opportunity to learn the craft.

We came up with the “Try New Things” concept as a literal representation of the experimental art that our classmates would be engaging in. Together, Brandon and I illustrated various silhouettes of objects not generally considered sandwich ingredients. We pre-printed the bread onto shirts, and prepared the content screens beforehand. The workshop allowed our classmates to quickly choose the sandwich meat they wanted to print, and try their hand at screenprinting by pulling a screen. Blank shirts were provided by our school’s AIGA chapter.
