There’s this thing called NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) that some crazy writers participate in every November. The goal is to write a novel in one month — 50,000 words in 30 days. Civic design isn’t sexy

Civic design is about equality and accessibility. In its election- and ballot-design forms, it’s about trying to ensure that votes get cast as they were intended by the voter. It’s unbiased and non-partisan — because bad ballot design affects all voters. At its core, civic design is an attempt to communicate flawlessly using language and design so that democracy is upheld.

Omaha Shirt Project

2016 Get Out The Vote poster

Oxide was delighted to participate in 2016’s Get Out The Vote, a nonpartisan campaign hosted by AIGA every four years to encourage graphic designers to use their talents to motivate the American public to get out there and vote. This year’s program is presented in partnership with the League of Women Voters‘ Vote 411 initiative.

St. Luke UMC website

We recently launched a new website for St. Luke United Methodist Church. Since St. Luke’s needs for the site were fairly straightforward, we talked with them about utilizing a pre-existing professional WordPress template, and then customizing it to their specific needs. We like to use this hybrid solution when it will work best for our clients, allowing us to use a core of pre-built code elements to create the site more efficiently, and to keep costs as low as possible.
