Joslyn Castle self-guided grounds tour brochure
The Joslyn Castle is a 35-room, nearly 20,000–square foot mansion located in Omaha’s historic Gold Coast District. The castle is just a few short blocks north of Oxide’s headquarters. The mansion is positioned in the center of a beautifully landscaped 5.5-acre plot. The grounds were designed by the famous Danish-American landscape architect Jens Jensen. To highlight the features of the 115-year-old castle and surrounding grounds, Oxide was contacted by the Joslyn Castle Trust and given the opportunity to design and illustrate an informative six-panel brochure.
The brochure features a large full-color isometric illustration of the estate as well as historical photos, facts, and information about the Joslyn family and their unique home. The map side of the brochure features 13 different points of interest. The stops include many things that can be viewed today as well as past features of the estate. These former features include an enormous greenhouse (destroyed in the famous 1913 Omaha tornado), a demolished gatehouse, an urban farm, and a swimming pool. The reverse side of the brochure gives a more in-depth look at the Joslyn’s family history and the mission of the trust.
It was a thrill to help promote such an amazing and significant place in our own backyard. The Joslyn Castle was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and was later named an Omaha landmark in 1979.
The Joslyn Castle and its grounds are open to the public for tours, events, and private rentals. The brochure is offered to guests free of charge!
